My Trip to Curacao
Dushi!
The Caribbean island of Curacao is beautiful! Laura and I stayed at Floris Suites, which is fairly close to the airport. Upon arrival, we both thought the hotel looked really nice. Its lobby is open, with white sheets hanging up, giving a cool and breezy ambiance. The front desk clerk was very pleasant, funny and accommodating. Check-in was smooth and quick. They didn't even ask for a credit card for insurance. We were offered a glass of champagne and then taken to our rooms.
We had a small issue with our room because it wasn't as clean and modern as we expected it to be. We had our room changed twice and thankfully the third one was much better, but Laura still wanted to get some cleaning supplies to sanitize it seeing as though we were going to be there for 4 days.
We were a bit unsure about the crowd at first, which appeared to be a lot older than us -- the hotel was supposed to be adults only, but I noticed a few children there with their families. I'd say overall it is a family friendly place. We had access to a beautiful private beach at the Hilton hotel, which was across the street. They provide a ride in a golf cart to the private beach, but it's also walkable.
Floris Suites also provides a free shuttle to downtown Willemstad in Punda. The shuttle runs twice a day, so we mainly traveled in mini dollar vans to get downtown and back. Otrabanda is directly across the floating bridge in Punda. The island is relatively small, so getting around easy. When we got to Punda, the floating bridge was moving to let a ship pass, so we hopped on the ferry to get the other side.
