Gov. Andrew Cuomo's State of State Address 2013
I couldn't sleep the night before. I was too anxious about visiting Albany and getting a glimpse of what my life is going to be like for the next 6 months--not to mention I had a PRESS PASS to attend Gov. Andrew Cuomo's third State of the State address as an intern for the Legislative Gazette! I wrote an article for it afterward and also go to take some photos. I was extremely nervous to take pictures in front of all those professional people because I barely knew how to use that camera.
There was a Hydro-fracking rally going on outside of the convention center. This made the experience even more exciting! I practiced with the Gazette's camera before the address by taking photos of the protesters. I don't know how those came out, but I managed to get some of my own.
Upstate NY Says No-Fracking Way
In case you're wondering: Fracking or Hydro-fracking is short for Hydraulic Fracturing. This is a drilling process used to extract natural gas from rock formations in the earth. Water, sand, and chemicals are pumped into the ground to break up the rock and release the oil. High volume fracking is not yet legal in New York due to uncertainty that it can be done safety without posing a threat to human life. But some people believe it could bring lots of jobs and revenue to the state.
I just have to get settled in Albany so I can officially begin this internship.
